 Puppy Tales

It's been very busy around here with 8 lively puppies! I can't believe they are already 7 weeks old. They were wormed and weighed this morning, with the boys being close to 18 pounds, and the girls between 13 and 15 pounds. A pretty hefty crew Tuesday afternoon they go for their first vet visit, vaccines, and microchip - it'll be interesting trying to get 8 of them in there at the same time. Fortunately all the techs are very happy to help carry in puppies

Trudy is sure she still needs to help them be fed. When they are outside in their pen, she brings dog biscuits over to them...but if they don't manage to pull them in and eat them, she goes ahead and eats them herself - wouldn't want to waste food! This morning she regugitated her breakfast next to the pen for them...she is so feral sometimes it's amazing. I was able to clean that up before any of the pups tried to dig out for it, although they had just eaten and I doubt they were hungry at all. She did manage to break them all out earlier in the week - I looked outside to check on things and saw 8 puppies running around, Trudy looking quite pleased with herself, and Smiley looking very confused and a bit concerned. He loves the puppies on the other side of the fence, but I'm not certain how thrilled he was to have them nipping at his privates .

Phoebe is a great nursemaid, she runs around their pen and keeps them running from side to side and wears them out so they sleep well all afternoon.

Yesterday Alyssa came to visit and socialize with the pups. They all had a great time, and I managed to get a couple of pretty good pictures.

 Weekend Project

Why is it that projects always take about three times longer than it seems they should? We spent what seemed like the entire weekend putting up a new pen for the puppies. Granted, it did include putting down sand and a patio block floor, but it just seemed that it took way too long for what should have been a simple project!

That said, now it is done and the puppies have a new run to play in, and they think its great fun! So do all the big dogs who are very curious about it and try to find a way in to get to those puppy toys

Here are a few pictures of the weekend project, LOL.

Looks simple enough, doesn't it? Frozen fingers didn't help when putting that hardware on!

Now the pups enjoying themselves.

And Momma Trudy, who moseyed in to check things out, but was ready to leave in about two minutes.

 Rainy Day

Yesterday was a stormy, rainy day - a good day to take an afternoon nap! Here are the pups taking their afternoon snooze, except for Kelly and Hootie, who were curious about that flash

 Che Update!

I heard from Chuck yesterday, and he sent along some great pictures of Che. Here's what he says

<
I've been meaning to send you some new Che pictures for a while now.

Here is a picture of him at Paws in Chelsea, where we boarded him over
Thanksgiving. He was about 11 months then: http://www.pawsinchelsea.com/difference.php
As you can see, he's giving one of the caretakers a hug! We try to
discourage this, but it is very cute! (by the way, I highly
recommended Paws in Chesea! They did great!)

Also, below is a photo from last weekend, when Yvonne took Che to
Coney Island! (Che has this funny habit of jumping on walls and
windows to look over/into things. It's pretty amusing, although
sometimes people get startled! This morning he jumped up on the
counter at the Post Office, which was a big surprise for the postal
worker!

I'll also mention that we've completed two obedience classes with
Pawsative (which you recommended to us) and they've been great. I
highly recommend them too.

We're having a great time with Che. He is a lovely dog and so much fun
to be with. We're so happy that he's part of our lives!

best,
Chuck>>

Look at that expression! Che always was a character
