Yesterday early afternoon I went on the front porch with the intent of closing all the windows and putting the air conditioner on. I opened the front door, and something whizzed past my head - I shut the door, quick, and looked through the windows - there was a bird in there! It must have flown in through the window that I left open a few inches on the north end of the porch. The dogs out there never made a peep! It was banging and crashing, from one end of the porch to the other. I put on my hoodie sweatshirt for protection and ducked out to open a window all the way, hoping it would fly out. I waited and watched....and waited and watched...and all the stupid thing would do is go back and forth, looking for a way out at the top. Well that wasn't going to happen!
It was getting quite warm out there and I wasn't going to close things up with a frantic bird, so I put on some gloves and got the broom - it took me a while, but I was finally able to brush at it a bit so it fell down. It hopped around and squawked at me, then jumped into Trick's big crate - with Trick laying there, asleep! It hopped over to his head, and I thought to myself, "Oh Lord, this is not going to be pretty, " when Trick woke up and looked at this crazy bird hopping around by his face. He gently took a big sniff of the bird, and looked at me as if to say, "What the f*** is this?" and ignored it. I hustled him out of there, and went to get the bird out, when I saw it laying there - dead as a doornail!
Trick hadn't touched it - I think it saw that monstrous thing sniffing at him and it had a birdie heart attack!
Oh well, never a dull moment!
At first I was afraid this story was going to go like the movie, "Birds."
